First: anyone know of a good app or website for snow forecasts and, more importantly, current coverage? It’s easy to find a boatload of apps that promise goo d slopes information , but I don’t want it for skiing, I want it for snow tourism.

Take my Jeep and drive to where the fun is, since good snowfalls are increasingly rare here.

Weather U nderground has good snow maps but the site is overridden with ads. I’d rather pay for an app. Unfortunately their app doesn’t seem to offer those maps.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

I’m going to keep sharing old posts I like before the door closes, so if you don’t want to see my Jeep Experience content yet again, speak up. I apologize that I haven’t been able to unembiggen my older posts that I’ve reshared , not sure whether that’s a new bug or just something I haven’t run across before.

Fascinating Jeep for your time.

On mobile (android) I use NOAA Weather Free which works well, mostly because it pulls NOAA data.  Little banner ad on the bottom, and with some precipitation forecasts that seems to work well(ish).

Does it have current snow depth though? I’ll grab it and see.

I typically just use the NWS data. They update fairly often during snow storms and have town-by-town measurements by people in the field (pro or amateur). Sometimes towns don’t update that often but you can get a good idea the total depth.

Then also there’s the US Snow Depth Analysis on Weather Street that is good enough for me. Idk about how high the fidelity on the map is though.

I seem to remember it having a recent fallen chart in the hourly tab you could turn on . Going back a year since I was last in snow though.

Seems like going to weather underground with an ad blocker is the easiest thing?

I like apps. A good app will give you a much better experience than any website.

Plus I don’t think iOS allows ad blockers, but coul d be wrong. Safari does a pretty good job of blocking a lot of the noise out of the box.

Since you’re planning Jeepin’ in the snow and the fact that your wheels are the same size between the TJ and WJ, have you thought of having a set of Steelies for winter driving?

I had arranged to buy some matching TJ Rubicon wheels last year for winter tires , but the trailer they were on was stolen the night before they were going to be shipped to Avon for me to pick up. Thankfully I hadn’t paid for them yet, but that sucked for both of us.

I haven’t thought much about it since then . I think I’ll wait to see how the WJ does in mixed conditions with the full-time 4wd.

Howmuchwillitsnow.com. Or something like that is very simple and works pretty well has totals and seems to be accurate for my area

A lot of data, but I need maps when I’m aiming for someplace distant and am trying to figure out a timeline and destination.
